VIA's small form factor PCs

Via Technologies is offering several small form factor units suitable for Digital Signage use. There are touch screens with embedded PCs and small form factor boxes set to compete with all the lower end units on the market.

The Via VM7700 Ultra-Slim VESA mount PC (quite a mouthful) has some interesting specifications.

Meant to be mounted directly behind your screen, the thin case is quite compact and easy to hide. WIFI is optional.

Windows XP, XP embedded and Linux are supported.

• Supports up to 1 Gb of RAM
• VIA Unichrome Graphics processor with MPEG 2/4 and WMV9 Decoding capabilities.
• Gigabit Ethernet
• DVI connector
• 4 USB 2.0 ports

This type of PC may not be able to play multiple HD video channels but it may be quite sufficient for many typical DS applications.
