More Atom PCs for your digital signage enjoyment!

PC Mag.com recently reviewed the Polywell Poly ITX-9400B, Ion based small form factor PC and had lots of good things to say about it. The unit tested featured a Blue Ray drive pushing the suggested retail price in the $700 US range. PC Mag found the unit performed quite well as a home entertainment PC partially due to the fanless design.

At this price you also get Windows Vista Ultimate so this helps soften the blow as $700 is not cheap for a digital signage box. PC Mag also reports...
"Flash still needs to be optimized for the ION platform for HD videos, but standard-definition Web video played back fine"

This probably means anyone planning to run Flash based content on this box should test their media extensively before deploying out in the field.

On the plus side: Small form factor, fanless, energy efficient processor.

On the minus side: Not as powerful as dual core based PCs, expensive (with a Blue Ray drive).
