What digital signage can do for political campaign advertising

David Haynes who writes the sixteen:nine blog had an interesting take on politician's use of digital signage technology. His focus is on attack ads which are sure to be popular with our friends in the US as they enter an election year. I think there is more to it than attack ads.

Political campaign money will be spent on digital signage this year because the networks are sufficiently large to attract advertisers. Just don't expect this phenomenon to be limited to federal elections. Digital signage is sure to become an equally important platform for municipal and provincial politicians seeking election. Since digital signage provides complete control over the timing and location of each ad, smart politicians will leverage this technology to get their message out as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Don't expect it to stop with politicians. Special interest groups are sure to notice the potential of digital signage and start advertising on local screens too.
