Easy File Sharing

This isn't completely on-topic but digital signage often requires you to exchange large files with your clients (PDF proofs, Flash SWFs, etc...) and giving access to you FTP server is not always practical.

Enter the file sharing services. Some require a commitment (like a monthly account, think BOX.NET) and others will let you use their services for free up to a size limit after which you need to pay a monthly fee (YouSendIt).

I just read about a new free service called file.io. This service lets you set up private folders and gives you a personalized URL you can share with clients, colleagues and friends so they can download your files for free. Each folder is limited to 150 Mb of storage (but you can set up as many as you want) and your files are kept for up to 21 days. It's quick and easy and best of all, it's free!

Another similar free service is called drop.io (what is it with all those io's anyways?). Those guys offer less storage (100 Mb) but you can reserve your storage for longer periods. No accounts to set up, no info to exchange...

Great for those quick and dirty file transfers when you're stuck because the file is too large to e-mail!
